Ambassador Emmett Imani, President of the Global Council of Turk Communities and Heritage, will attend the Global Summit on Paid Period Leave, scheduled to take place on 19 October 2026 at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in New York.
At the summit, which focuses on international advocacy for women’s health, Imani will address “The Role of Women in the Turk World.” His remarks will explore the social, economic and cultural position of women across the Turk world, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in advancing women’s health.
Imani will also raise the prospect of launching an initiative on behalf of the Global Council of Turk Communities and Heritage to promote the implementation of paid menstrual leave across the Eurasian region.
Regional Initiative to Promote Paid Menstrual Leave in Eurasia
The Global Council of Turk Communities and Heritage aims to take concrete steps towards advancing paid menstrual leave, with the broader goal of supporting the development of women’s health policies and promoting best practices across the countries of the region.
As part of this effort, the Council plans to review existing legislation and practices in Eurasian countries, examine international examples, consult with relevant institutions and organisations, and develop policy recommendations tailored to the circumstances of countries across the region.
Through this initiative, the Council seeks to contribute to the protection of women’s health, the improvement of social well-being, and stronger cooperation in this field across the Turk world and the wider Eurasian region.
